This Friday and Saturday mark the final showings of “Southern Exposure,” a play about life in Chattanooga in the ’50s and ’60s. The two-act theatrical and musical production features 31 monologues written by Lookout Mountain native Peggy Douglas, who was born in 1951 and based her characters’ fictional stories on her observations of life while growing up in Chattanooga – contrasting the idyllic perspective of the 1950s with the struggles of African Americans during the Civil Rights movement, as well as those involved with the anti-war sentiment, the second wave of the women’s movement and the counterculture. Tickets to the outdoor performance can be purchased at tinyurl.com/SouthernExposurePlay.
