Your Friday at a glance:

  • Weather: High 77, scattered thunderstorms.
  • What to eat: Bacon and mushroom smothered pork chops, a deliciously hearty meal just in time for fall.
  • What to do: Read Bobbie Ann Mason’s new book, in which Mason imagines the life that might have been for Ann Workman, a graduate student who pursues love and English literature against the turbulent backdrop of the 1960s.
  • What we’re excited about: The age of electric cars dawning ahead of schedule.

Here are the answers.

And here are a few recent stories:

Chattanooga will become a living laboratory for cleaner, safer roads thanks to this Department of Energy grant.

Here’s this weekend’s festival lineup, which spotlight giant pumpkins, fair foods, Christmas decor and more.

And, here’s what you need to know to vote in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama this November.
