A 39-year-old woman is dead after she was hit by a vehicle on Interstate 75 in Chattanooga on Friday, according to a news release from the police department.
Officers determined the woman was trying to cross the exit 4 ramp on I-75 South to Highway 153 at about 3:58 a.m. when she was struck by a Dodge Challenger traveling on the same ramp.
The driver of the Challenger immediately stopped and called 911, authorities said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the release states.
