Veteran Matt Adams announced his campaign for Tennessee's Third District congressional seat this week, promoting clean energy and a stronger economy.

Adams, an Army veteran and a Democrat, is running for the seat in the U.S. House of Representatives now occupied by Republican Rep. Chuck Fleischmann of Chattanooga. The district includes Anderson, Hamilton, McMinn, Monroe, Morgan, Polk, Roane, Scott and Union counties and parts of Bradley and Campbell counties.

In a release from the campaign, Adams said he believes "every generation of Americans has a solemn obligation to leave the nation better than we found it and we have a moral imperative to ensure we are not leaving the same issues we inherited for the next generation."
