As the remnants of Hurricane Ida move through the Chattanooga region, heavy rainfall is expected to dump one to three inches of rain in the area.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for Chattanooga from Tuesday through Wednesday afternoon. Roads will incur localized flooding as heavy rains persist and area creeks and rivers are overwhelmed.

A flood warning has also been issued for South Chickamauga Creek, where the flood stage will be reached overnight, cresting midday Wednesday. Road flooding is expected on Davidson Road near Gunbarrel Road, Lightfoot Mill Road and other low-lying areas near the creek, according to a city news release.

Drivers are encouraged to report flooded locations or trees down by calling the 311 Service Center at 423-643-6311 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, or if after hours or on weekends, the Chattanooga Police Department non-emergency number at 423-698-2525.
