A Chattanooga developer said Monday that a plan for the former Quarry golf course site slated to go before the City Council next week is “a good development, with good density, with a good layout.”

But the developer, James Pratt of Pratt Land & Development LCC, was questioned about stormwater, traffic, potential school overcrowding and other issues during a virtual meeting over the proposed residential project on a 50-acre tract off Mountain Creek and Reads Lake roads.

Opponents have said they’ve garnered some 5,000 names on a petition against development on the site.

Pratt said the biggest problem of opponents of the development appears to be the construction of apartments, which would go up along with townhomes.

“That seems to be the biggest rub,” he said. “For us to develop this property, we need to get density.”
