Greetings, outdoorspeople!
- Weekend forecast: Saturday; high 42, few morning snow showers/ Sunday; high 45, mostly cloudy
- Recommended adventure: Grab your binoculars and go crane-watch. Each winter, tens of thousands of sandhill cranes soar south for the winter, converging at the Hiwassee Wildlife Refuge. There, the birds flock through January, before beginning their spring migration north. Can’t visit in-person? Enjoy the sights and sounds virtually this Saturday, Jan. 16, at 9 a.m. when the TWRA will broadcast live from the refuge. Stream it live here.
- Most interesting thing we recently learned: We may associate farm-fresh veggies with summer harvests, but Main Street Farmers Market is actually open year round. Check out what’s available here, and support your local farmers today, from 4-5:30 p.m. in Chattanooga Brewing Co.’s parking lot, 1804 Chestnut St.
