Editor’s note: In keeping with our theme of social media this year, we asked each of “the 20” to submit personally curated photographs and answer questions that offer a sneak peek into their private, as well as professional, life. We also had them choose a location for their lead photo shoot that ties into who they are.

* Facebook or Instagram?
Instagram.
* What would your personal hashtag be?
#takecareofyourself. It’s so important to take time for a healthy mind and body. At the same time, it’s a little funny to remind people to take care of their own business.
* Most-used emoji?
Thumbs-up. It’s just so positive and lets people know that you are in a good mood.
* What would you list as your top 3 likes? And, dislikes?
Likes: Food, outdoors, beer. Dislikes: Long lines, sitting still, ignorance.
* How old were you when you got your first cellphone?
16. I had just started driving on my own, and I remember sitting in my algebra class and being called out by my teacher for texting during class.
* Piece of tech you couldn’t live without (or wouldn’t want to)?
Juicer. Gotta get those antioxidants!
* Social media – love it or hate it?
Love and hate. There is a huge potential for networking and discussions with colleagues; at the same time, there is so much negativity and misinformation that social media can be a powerful negative force in many ways.
* What was your last post (about)?
Work-related. I posted a before/after of a gum graft surgery I had recently performed.
* What do you consider your biggest accomplishment?
Becoming an Eagle Scout. It was a challenge to perform community service and leadership tasks during a transformative time of adolescence. Being able to maintain focus without getting distracted by cars and friends was very difficult.
* What is the biggest challenge or hardship you have overcome?
Moving to Chattanooga without any friends or family in town was very challenging, especially as I transitioned from (medical) residency to private practice. Fortunately, this city has people from all over the country that have made the same transition, and everybody has been welcoming and friendly.
* What kind of influencer would you be?
Barbecue and beer.
* Any goals for this year?
Take more time off, read more books, gain muscle with no injuries.
* What’s one thing you would change about Chattanooga and why?
Better ‘green’ options. There are parts of Chattanooga that don’t even pick up recycling bins!
* Why did you choose this location for your shoot?
Renaissance Park is a green haven within downtown Chattanooga. Keeping a green space inside a busy area helps to keep everybody centered and provides a relaxing atmosphere.
* Tell me about one of your favorite memories.
When we first got our puppy, we took him to the dog park and he crawled into the back of my shirt while we were laying on the grass.
