Take 5 Oil Change buys Highway 153 site

Take 5 Oil Change has purchased the site of a former FirstBank at 5188 Highway 153 in Chattanooga as the company looks to build at least 10 units in the region.

“We were glad to be able to find this site before it ever went on the market,” said Jeff Jennings, a commercial real estate broker with NAI Charter Real Estate. “It is the prime site in Hixson.”

Take 5 plans to put a couple of units in Chattanooga by year’s end and is working on a location in Dalton, Georgia, with plans for another site in Cleveland, Tennessee, said area franchisee Michael Alterman earlier this year.

“We’re excited about Chattanooga,” said Alterman, adding he sought the market when he was negotiating with Take 5 for the franchise that includes East Tennessee and North Georgia.

Nokian Tyres wins environmental award

Nokian Tyres’ production facility in Dayton, Tennessee, has won the Tennessee Governor’s Environmental Stewardship Award for Sustainable Performance.

According to Nokian Tyres, the recognition is the most prestigious environmental and conservation award in the state and the company is the first winner from Rhea County in the 35-year history of the program.

Nokian Tyres has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for four straight years, ranking it among the most sustainable publicly traded companies in the world, the company said. It also is the first tire company to have its emissions reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative.

The company said it’s partnering with One Tree Planted to plant 50,000 trees in sensitive areas this year.

The Governor’s Environmental Stewardship Awards program recognizes exceptional voluntary actions that improve or protect the environment and natural resources with projects or initiatives not required by law or regulation.

Teague named COO for Sarkes-Tarzian

Sarkes Tarzian Inc. announced today that Pam Teague, the president and general manager of WRCB-TV in Chattanooga since 2019, has been named chief operating officer for the station’s parent company, Sarkes Tarzian Inc., effective Jan. 9 of next year.

She will succeed Tom Tolar, who is retiring and previously served as WRCB-TV’s manager for 35 years.

Teague has been with WRCB-TV for nearly 40 years, previously serving as the station’s programming director, controller and station manager. Teague will still be based in Chattanooga but she will also oversee divisions in Reno, Nevada and Fort Wayne, Indianapolis and Bloomington, Indiana.

“Pam will be an excellent chief operating officer for Sarkes Tarzian,” Tolar said. “She is highly respected among the executive leadership team and will be a great asset to our television and radio divisions.”

Before joining WRCB in 1982, Teague worked in radio in Alabama. Teague said she looks forward to reconnecting with her radio background “and working more closely with all our divisions as we continue to serve our neighbors.”

“Pam has extensive industry experience and a full understanding of the Guiding Philosophy of Sarkes Tarzian’s board of directors,” said Tom Tarzian, CEO for Sarkes Tarzian, Inc.

An announcement about Teague’s replacement as president and general manager of WRCB-TV will be made at a later date.

Based in Bloomington, Indiana, Sarkes Tarzian, Inc. operates WRCB-TV in Chattanooga, and KTVN-TV in Reno, Nevada; along with WAJI-FM, WGBJ-FM, and WLDE-FM serving Fort Wayne, Indiana, and WGCL-AM and WTTS-FM serving Bloomington and Indianapolis, Indiana.
