The seasonal GHSA postseason coin flip wasn’t kind to Ringgold and Gordon Lee in this week’s quarterfinal baseball round but that didn’t stop the Tigers and Trojans from sweeping their way into the Class AAA and A public semifinals.
That coin flip, however, will be favorable to each program in the next round.
Ringgold (29-6) never trailed in winning at Harlem, scoring four first-inning runs to win game one, 8-4, and riding Chase Ghormley’s two-hit masterpiece in game two to prevail 1-0 after scoring a first-inning run. The Tigers will host the winner of the North Hall/Pierce County series starting with a doubleheader Saturday.
Ringgold jumped out front in game one on Kenyon Ramson’s three-run double and Austin McMahan’s RBI double in the first inning. Ransom added a sacrifice fly in the third inning and, after Harlem scored four runs in the third to make it a one-run game, added three runs in the sixth inning on RBIs from Eli Norris and Sam Mills.
Robbie Bates and Colin Mountjoy went the final 3 innings in relief of Ransom to protect the win.
