Driver flees scene of crash on Johnson Road, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office investigating

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is investigating a single-vehicle crash that happened on Johnson Road on Tuesday morning, including a report of the driver fleeing into a wooded area, according to a news release.

Around 7:30 a.m., deputies responded to the 5000 block of Johnson Road after a report of an accident with injuries. When deputies arrived, they learned that the driver fled the scene on foot into a wooded area nearby and was later transported to a hospital, according to deputies. Authorities believe the man to be Matthew Poythress.

A K-9 unit with the sheriff's office also came to the scene but was unable to locate the driver.

The investigation is ongoing, and the sheriff's office traffic division is working to confirm the identity of the driver.
