Good morning, Chattanooga!
Last week, I got to check out the opening day of Chattanooga’s newest independent bookstore, The Book & Cover.
We first covered former Girls Preparatory School classmates Blaes Green, Sarah Jackson and Emily Lilley back in July while they were raising seed money for their proposed business.
A few months later, the bright pink door on the new shop officially opened to customers, who quickly filled the space on an overcast afternoon.
“We’re just really excited to have someone in here and make it real because it has felt so much like this is something we’re doing for our community and they’re such a big part of it and they haven’t been here yet,” Jackson said. “It feels like … [the community] is the missing piece.”
Now for some recent stories:
VETERAN SALUTE: Could you imagine being tasked with monitoring and maintaining nuclear weapons during the Cold War in your late teens and early 20s? This Chattanooga area veteran said it’s the most fascinating job he’s ever had.
ROCKING AROUND ROCK CITY: Rock City’s bright star, the Enchanted Garden of Lights, has twinkled its way to an award from the Southeast Tourism Society.
HALL OF FAME: Did you know there was a Toy Hall of Fame? See if any of your or your kids’ favorites made this year’s list.
