Give-back event to be held downtown

A new event in downtown Chattanooga called the Cranberry Jam will provide an opportunity for individuals to gather and give back leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Hosted from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 22 at Miller Plaza, the event will feature music by Love, Peace & Happiness, a party band with a repertoire that includes soul, R&B and standards. There will be bins for people to donate goods to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen.

The event is intended as a replacement of sorts for Gratefull Chattanooga, a previous Thanksgiving event held around a long table along M.L. King Boulevard, which is not being held this year.

“River City Co. is offering an opportunity for the community to still come together safely and give back to those in need in our community,” said Emily Mack, president & CEO of River City Co.

Individuals attending the event are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items like canned goods or other supplies needed this time of year by the Chattanooga Community Kitchen including hand warmers, used plastic bags, umbrellas and ponchos.

“Food drives at this time of year not only help us prepare daily meals, but also allow us to provide delicious and nutritious meals with all the trimmings for the holidays,” said Trish King, volunteer and church coordinator for the Chattanooga Community Kitchen.

Pinnacle named one of best banks for which to work

Pinnacle Financial Partners is one of the 10 best banks for which to work in the nation and No. 1 among banks with more than $11 billion in assets, according to the Nashville-based bank.

The latest list of Best Banks to Work For from American Banker magazine ranks Pinnacle No. 9 among 90, with no other banks of similar asset size appearing on the list, the bank said. This is the firm’s ninth consecutive appearance.

“We promise our associates a great place to work and our clients a great place to do business. They go hand in hand, and we’re delivering on a scale no one else can,” said Terry Turner, Pinnacle’s president and CEO. “If you look through this list of nearly 100 banks, you’ll see a lot of strong community institutions. What you won’t find are any of Pinnacle’s peers or major competitors.”
