Now for some trivia and some reader-submitted good news to start your day:
This morning’s nearly total lunar eclipse was the first of its kind in almost 600 years. The next one won’t be until 2669.
Now here are two reader submissions of good news this week:
From Sharon Alexander, Voter Services Chair, League of Women Voters:
League of Women Voters of Chattanooga, working with the Hamilton County Election Commission, kicked off high school voter registration at Ivy Academy on Veterans Day.
From Fran Morley:
This week, my fiddle-playing husband, Tom Morley, held his 77th online play-along Irish traditional music session, with “attendees” from across the US, Canada, and abroad. The backstory: In March 2020, to make up for a pandemic-canceled St. Patrick’s Day concert, his local group of fiddle students and players were going to do, he conducted an impromptu play-along session via his Facebook page. One session led to another and to another, and now he has done nearly 80 of them, drawing very loyal participants every week who play along in their homes from Oregon to Florida, British Columbia to Nova Scotia, and beyond, frequently including players in Scotland, Ireland and Hungary. (Irish traditional music is popular around the globe!) Over the past 19 months, he has gotten viewers from 38 different states and a dozen countries and the participants have grown into a real community, talking back and forth in the comments, offering tips and sharing news. It’s become something everyone (including us!) looks forward to.
