Here’s some trivia and community good news to start your day:
When it comes to playground equipment, the slide is thought to have been invented in 1922 by Charles Wicksteed. The first versions were made out of planks of wood.
Also, I totally forgot to add in our reader-submitted good news on Friday, so hopefully, these can brighten your Monday:
From Cheryl Craven: My nephew, Josiah Myaing, and three buddies de-littered a 3-mile section of scenic road. The drive is beautiful once again!
From Sandra: The comic book/game store at which my grandson works allows trades for store credit. There’s a young woman who had been trying to earn enough credit to get a figure and was talking with him about what she still needed in order for it to go home with her. When she went back to the game room, another customer stepped up and asked about the value of a card he owned. After hearing the value, he went to his vehicle and came back with the card. Handing it to my grandson he said, “Now she can get her figure.” The customer was someone passing through our city for a wedding and had no connection to the young woman. His kindness made an impact on two young people that evening.
