Jimmie Villalobos provided the go-ahead goal in the 79th minute as the Chattanooga Red Wolves beat South Georgia Tormenta FC 2-1 on Saturday night in a USL League One match at CHI Memorial Stadium in East Ridge.
The score by Villalobos resulted from a corner kick, with Ryley Kraft credited with the assist.
The Red Wolves (9-9-5 overall, 9-8-5 USL League One) drew even at the end of the first half when Juan Galindrez scored his 10th goal of the season. South Georgia (7-8-6) had taken the lead in the eighth minute but was ultimately dealt its third straight loss.
The Red Wolves, who are 3-0-3 in their past six matches, now have 32 points in the league standings and maintained their fourth-place position.
Eight matches remain in the regular season for Chattanooga, with the next one a trip to North Carolina to face the Charlotte Independence (8-8-5) at 7 p.m. next Saturday.
CFC holds place with draw
The Chattanooga Football Club played the Michigan Stars FC to a scoreless draw in National Independent Soccer Association competition Saturday night at Finley Stadium.
Chattanooga FC (10-4-4 overall, 9-3-4 NISA) maintained its seven-point lead (31-24) over the Stars (6-3-6) in the East Division standings. CFC snapped a two-game losing streak but has not scored since the match before that, a 3-0 home win against the Maryland Bobcats on Aug. 6.
CFC returns to competition at 7 p.m. next Saturday when it visits the third-place Bobcats (6-6-3, 21 points).
