Good morning (well, I guess afternoon now), Chattanooga!
A party is rarely my idea of a good time.
Now, if you put the words “silent” and “reading” in front of it, you just might pique my interest.
My colleague Emily Crisman checked one out in December at the Cherry Street Tavern. People basically gathered with their books and read silently together.
“We both just really thought it was such a great idea,” said co-host Emily Powers. “I kind of feel like we were all missing those human moments and human connections when everything was locked down, and the silent reading party really gives both introverts and extroverts a chance to come together and do something that we love.”
Now for some recent stories:
TASTE THE RAINBOW: This winter salad recipe spins the color wheel with kale, butternut squash and pomegranate.
TAX ASSISTANCE: While taxes may look a bit different this year for many households, assistance for low-income, disabled and elderly residents for the filing process is still available through the VITA program.
WHAT TO KNOW: And if you want to know exactly how taxes are changing this year, here’s a helpful guide.
