MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A FedEx worker was killed in a forklift accident early Friday at the shipping giant’s facility in Memphis, Tennessee, police said.
Police were notified at about 2:30 a.m. about a woman who died while operating a forklift at the facility, Memphis police spokeswoman Karen Rudolph said. The worker’s name was not immediately released.
FedEx released a statement saying it is cooperating with authorities on an investigation into the death.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of our team member,” FedEx said. “Our heartfelt thoughts are with our team member’s family, their colleagues, and all those affected by this event.”
No other details were immediately disclosed.
FedEx’s global headquarters is located in Memphis.
