New leads in a 23-year-old missing person cold case have Grundy County, Tennessee, authorities and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation probing for answers in what happened to a local man who vanished in September 1999.
The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the TBI is researching fresh leads in the disappearance of Timothy Dale White, who was last seen Sept. 15, 1999, in Palmer, Tennessee. He was 38 when he disappeared.
“I think there is still someone out there that knows what happened that could help bring closure to this case for Tim and his family,” Sheriff Clint Shrum said in a statement posted on the department’s social media page. The sheriff declined to offer any details or describe the nature of the leads Tuesday.
“Hopefully, as these things progress, we can release more,” he said in a follow-up email.
Palmer is on the eastern edge of the county and Cumberland Plateau along State Route 108. Most of Palmer is surrounded by rugged, wooded terrain.
