The Hamilton County 911 Emergency Communications District recently donated $6,000 to the Forgotten Child Fund during its last big toy and money drive of 2021.

Telecommunicators and staff at the local 911 center raised the funds throughout the year via various fundraisers spearheaded by the Cares Committee, which is a group of telecommunicator representatives from all three shifts who coordinate fundraising activities to benefit those in need.

This is the fifth year that the Cares Committee has donated to the Forgotten Child Fund.

“This year is the most money we have raised for the Forgotten Child Fund,” Jared Pelham, committee chair, said. “All credit and thanks go to our amazing family here at the district. Every time there is a need to help others, they always go above and beyond.”

The Forgotten Child Fund, based in Chattanooga, is a nonprofit organization comprised of emergency service personnel who donate their time to provide a better Christmas for the needy, particularly by collecting toys and money for children.
