Chattanooga FC claims NISA Independent Cup championship

The Chattanooga Football Club defeated Club De Lyon FC 3-2 Saturday evening in the NISA Independent Cup Southeast Regional final at Finley Stadium.

Midfielder Alex McGrath sent in a perfect assist to Taylor Gray for the game-winning score in the 82nd minute. The championship win moved Chattanooga FC's undefeated streak to 11 matches. The last loss for Rod Underwood's red-hot club came back on April 30.

CFC star Markus Naglestad provided a sensational goal in the 39th minute when he curled a free kick from 30 yards out over a wall of five defenders and past the diving keeper to tie the match at 2-2. Colin Stripling scored the home team's first goal in the 16th minute after a nice find by Juan Hernandez.
