To DIY or not to DIY?
In 2019, my fiance and I bought an acre and a half of bramble-covered land and built a small cabin – with our own two hands, without paying a single contractor.
I came to the table – or, the site, as it were – with no experience. My fiance, however, had more than a decade’s worth in carpentry and plumbing – skills that wholly made our home-building on a budget possible.
So, now that I’m equipped with some basic skills, would I recommend leaping into such a project? Absolutely not. Some DIY projects are best left to the pros. Our first story below offers more guidance.
