Link Media Outdoor buys Knoxville, Tennessee, billboard company

Link Media Outdoor is entering the Tennessee billboard market by acquiring a Knoxville-based billboard company and its 265 signs across East Tennessee.

Link Media Outdoor, a Roswell, Georgia-based subsidiary of Boston Omaha Corp., announced Tuesday it is buying Elevation Outdoor, a 20-year-old privately held billboard company headed by former state Rep. Martin Daniel. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

Scott LaFoy, the president and chief executive of Link Media, praised Elevation Outdoor as "a well-built and successful business" that will expand Link's service territory.

"Martin has done a wonderful job building and leading the company, and it has been a pleasure to work with him on this transaction," LaFoy said in an announcement of the purchase. "Elevation Outdoor has done an excellent job developing this impressive inventory."

Link plans for Daniel to remain involved in an advisory capacity, and Donna Jarnigan to remain involved in a sales capacity.

LaFoy previously owned his own billboard company in Chattanooga and served as regional general manager for Fairway Outdoor Advertising before assuming his current job as head of Link Media Outdoor in 2019.

The transaction is Link's largest acquisition of 2022. Mad Dog Outdoor Consulting LLC represented the seller.

With the Elevation Outdoor acquisition, Link now operates more than 7,665 billboard advertising faces in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Virginia, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Nevada, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Tennessee.
