Two people were taken to a local hospital and four were displaced after a Saturday morning house fire in the Forest Acres area, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly after 8:30 a.m. to find fire and smoke and occupants outside on the 2500 block of Maple Street. Two residents suffering from burns and smoke inhalation were taken to a hospital for treatment. One pet was found but another was missing, a news release states.
Because of ammunition in the home — and oxygen tanks that exploded — it took several hours for crews to extinguish the fire.
The displaced adults will be receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
