A 15-year-old female suspect has been arrested after a Chattanooga police officer responded to a fight between juveniles outside Brainerd Recreation Center on Wednesday on North Moore Road, according to a news release.
The school resource officer for Brainerd High School was called at 12:58 p.m. to break up a fight, but by the time the officer located the suspect, the fight had already ended, the release said. As the officer attempted to obtain information about the fight from the suspect, she allegedly pushed past him and began striking him in the face several times.
The officer is seen on video struggling with the suspect, who is eventually taken into custody. An initial review of the video shows that the officer acted within policy, the release said.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital for observation of preexisting medical conditions expressed by her family. She did not suffer physical injuries from the police, the release said.
Juvenile warrants charging assault and disorderly conduct have been obtained for the suspect.
