McMinn authorities seeking person who stabbed woman found lying in road

Authorities in McMinn County, Tennessee, are looking for whoever stabbed a woman found lying in the road on the southern end of the county. The woman is recovering from her injuries.

The woman was found lying on County Road 725, where sheriff's volunteer public service units provided emergency measures until they were joined by deputies, detectives and emergency personnel, McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy said in a statement dated Wednesday.

"As the investigation got underway, the female victim was identified as Diamond Natasha Young, 24, of Madisonville," Guy said in the statement. "She was transported to a regional hospital for further treatment. This is believed to be an isolated incident."

Guy praised the actions of volunteer unit members Barry Toomey and Chris Nunley.

"They made a difference, and they are to be commended," he said.

The sheriff said the investigation is ongoing. Sheriff's Office Detective Jared Price is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the department's detective division at 423-745-5620.
