Veteran television host Jed Mescon is returning to broadcasting next week as program director and morning co-host for radio station WGOW in Chattanooga.
Mescon, who will make his on-air return to WGOW on Monday, has worked for the past three decades in media and communications for WGOW, Local 3 News, Erlanger Health, the Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union and the Skyuka Hall School.
Mescon fills the vacancy created when former WGOW Program Director Kevin West left the station to become director of public affairs for the Chattanooga Police Department.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jed to WGOW and our Cumulus Chattanooga team,” said a statement from John Lewis, vice president and market manager for Cumulus Media, which owns and operates four radio stations in Chattanooga, including New Country 107.9/WOGT-FM (country), TALK! Radio 102.3 FM/WGOW-FM (news/talk), News Radio WGOW 1150 AM/WGOW-AM (news/talk) and Classic Rock KZ 106/WSKZ-FM (classic rock). “Jed has amassed an impressive career in media, and his unique perspective, connection to the community and skill set will undoubtedly take WGOW to the next level.”
In an announcement of Mescon’s appointment, Cumulus Media Operations Manager Scott Chase called Mescon “one of the most recognizable and trusted talents in the market.
