Before he was accused in his business ventures of fraud, accountant Jonathan Frost was positioned to help guide the financial decisions of several nonprofits in the Chattanooga area.
Among them, tax records show, are the foundations connected to his family, which presides over a multigenerational fortune and has played a prominent role in the area’s nonprofit community.
Since his businesses ran aground in September — behind on payroll and leaving his investors wondering where their money went — Frost has faced several accusations of intermingling funds between different business entities and running a Ponzi scheme. Some of the allegations concern dealings dating at least as early as 2022 — a period during which he was helping two Frost family foundations do their taxes and administer finances.
Frost faces seven ongoing lawsuits from investors, clients, lenders and a former business partner.
