Part of a brick wall collapsed from a downtown Chattanooga building on Thursday morning, crushing one car.

The third-floor wall was part of a construction site at 27 West Main Street, a release from the Chattanooga Fire Department said.

The car parked on the street directly beneath the wall was destroyed, according to the department. Two other cars, parked on either side, were also damaged. There were three people inside one of the cars, but no one was injured by the collapse, the release said.

The collapse came as storms rolled through Chattanooga on Thursday, department spokesperson Lindsey Rogers said in a text.

It's unknown which construction company was working at the site, Rogers said. The building, near the corner of Market and Main streets, is the site of a planned headquarters for hotel operator 3H Group, the Chattanooga Times Free Press previously reported.

The space, which housed a gay bar on its first floor for roughly 20 years, was sold in 2016 for $2.1 million.
