A McMinn County man is behind bars on a felony charge related to the 2021 overdose death of another McMinn County man, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Koby Alexander Wyatt, 22, caused the death of 20-year-old Jacob Aaron Crisp by facilitating his drug usage and transporting him to obtain the substances that caused his death, the agency said Friday in a news release.

On Tuesday, the McMinn County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Wyatt with one count of facilitation of second-degree murder. TBI agents arrested Wyatt on Wednesday and booked him into the McMinn County Jail where he is being held on a $150,000 bond.

Authorities began investigating the incident in late April 2021, shortly after McMinn County authorities found Crisp unresponsive from a suspected drug overdose, officials said. Despite medical treatment, Crisp died three days later from what an autopsy revealed to be a methamphetamine-related overdose.
