Mike Costello, who retired from the Elliott Davis Decosimo in January after working in the accounting profession as a CPA for more than 40 years, has opened his own business brokerage service to help business owners sell their companies.

Know as Costello Capital Management LLC, the new Lookout Mountain-based venture is serving lower-middle-market and middle-market companies by providing sell-side advisory services.

“My experience in determining the value of a company and in negotiating successfully realize that value makes me uniquely qualified to serve business owners by providing this service,” Costello said in an announcement of his new company. “During my time serving in the CPA profession and with a broker-dealer, I have had the education and training to develop the knowledge, skill and experience to help business owners during the sales process.”

Costello said his new business is “a natural progression based upon the foundation formed during my career in public accounting and investment banking.”

Costello is a member of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, the Tennessee Society of CPAs, the American Society of Appraisers, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Association for Corporate Growth. He earned a master of accountancy from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and is serving the UC Foundation as the immediate past chairman. Mike and his wife Mitsy, also serve as co-chairs of the Healing Gardens Campaign for Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation.
