Chattanooga police: Bicyclist dies after hit-and-run Wednesday afternoon

A bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in the 1800 block of East 32nd Street, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

About 12:50 p.m., police responded to a report that a bicyclist had been struck by a vehicle that then left the scene, the news release stated.

Darrell Kennedy, 62, was found suffering from life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police were later notified Kennedy had died from his injuries, according to the news release.

Investigators are working to gather more information about the suspected driver and vehicle, the release stated.
