Police investigating suspected homicide in North Chattanooga

Chattanooga police are investigating a suspected homicide in North Chattanooga, according to a news release Monday.

Officers responded to a report of an unconscious person at 605 Merriam St. on Thursday, the release said.

Inside, they found a woman, 48-year-old Angela Young, dead from an apparent gunshot wound, police said.

Young's death is being investigated as a homicide because of the apparent gunshot, according to the release.

No suspect information was available as of Monday, Assistant Chief Jerri Sutton said in an email.

Anyone with information can contact the department at 423-698-2525 or submit an anonymous tip through the Atlas One app.

"No amount of information is too small or insignificant," the release said.
