A man was arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with a June shooting in Chattanooga that injured one man, according to court records.

Torez Ladell Bowling, 22, faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and possessing a firearm during a felony. He also had a warrant out in connection with a theft charge from April at the time of his arrest, court documents show.

Bowling was arrested Monday.

The alleged victim in the shooting was found in a Westside home June 22 with a gunshot wound on his left side, police said in a report.

The man told police, according to an affidavit in the case, that Bowling shot him because he thought the man had stolen a gun from him. He said Bowling reportedly tried to “pistol whip” him, and he tried to kick Bowling to defend himself.

Bowling then shot him, the man alleged to police.

One witness told police they’d heard Bowling apologize and say he didn’t mean to shoot the man as he left the home, the affidavit said.

Witnesses cited in the affidavit refer to Bowling as “K3,” which police said is his alias.

Police said they saw surveillance video showing a man later identified as Bowling walk into the home around 12:45 p.m. and leave less than 10 minutes later.

On the video, another person could be seen running across the street to call for help, police said in the affidavit.

Bowling was booked into Silverdale Detention Center on Monday and was given a $200,000 bond, according to jail records.

He is set to appear in General Sessions Court on July 18 in front of Judge Larry Ables, court records show.

The theft charge will also be heard at that hearing, according to the docket.

In that case, Bowling is accused of stealing cash, a necklace valued at $600 and a pair of Nike Air Force 1 shoes from a former partner, an affidavit said.
