The Chattanooga Red Wolves snapped a two-match scoreless streak Wednesday night, getting first-half goals from Ropapa Mensah and Chevone Marsh to defeat Forward Madison FC 2-0 at CHI Memorial Stadium in East Ridge.

Carlos Avilez was in goal for the clean sheet as the Red Wolves improved to 3-6-2 against USL League One competition and jumped from last place to ninth with 11 points in the standings. Forward Madison (3-3-4) is seventh with 13 points.

It's the second time this year that Chattanooga has shut out a league opponent, but the first was a scoreless draw in the season opener.

The Red Wolves travel to Kentucky for their next match, facing last-place Lexington SC (2-5-3) at 7 p.m. next Wednesday. Chattanooga beat Lexington 3-1 in their first meeting of the season on April 29 at CHI Memorial Stadium.

Lexington must visit South Georgia Tormenta FC, which beat Chattanooga in the USL League One title game last year, on Saturday before hosting the Red Wolves.
