The suspect in an armed robbery at a downtown Chattanooga bank in March was killed by state troopers in Oklahoma following another robbery, Chattanooga police confirmed Thursday.

News reports state Rivero fled from the Kansas bank with around $5,000 in a silver Chrysler, starting a chase with troopers after crossing into Oklahoma. After Rivero started firing, reports say, troopers fired back and killed him.

"We were able to forensically relate that individual back to the robbery here in Chattanooga," Executive Chief Harry Sommers said during a media briefing Thursday. "It was the same person."

Rivero entered the Market Street branch of the bank around 10:30 a.m. March 20 and fired multiple warning shots while standing on a counter over a bank employee. Video shows he took an unknown amount of money in a bag he threw at the employee, who was seen filling the bag with cash from a drawer.

Police said Rivero fled the scene on foot by the time officers arrived. No one was injured.
