Central High School student arrested, charged after making threat to school

A juvenile was arrested Wednesday after a Central High School resource deputy was notified that a student may be in possession of a firearm, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

The initial information was "obtained after a social media post generated by the student was seen involving a firearm," Sheriff's Office spokesman J. Matt Lea said in a news release. "The school resource deputy, working with school administration, located the student."

According to authorities, it was determined, despite the social media post, the student was not in possession of a firearm.

The student, whose name has not been publicly released, was charged by the Sheriff's Office with threat of mass violence on school property.
