Tennessee used another big inning and another big night from first baseman Blake Burke for a 7-2 dumping of Gonzaga on Saturday before 5,037 fans at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

Burke's three-run home run put the Volunteers ahead 5-2 and ignited a five-run seventh inning. His blast followed Friday night's bases-clearing double that highlighted a six-run sixth inning in an 8-2 victory.

In four games this week, Burke is hitting .611 with three homers, two doubles and 14 RBIs.

"That guy has been super impressive," Vols left fielder Griffin Merritt said. "I'm sure a lot of people across the country are just now putting some respect on what he's done, but it's not really a surprise to most of us here. The kid is special.

"I've only got a couple of RBIs, because every time I come up, the bases are clear."

Burke is hitting .471 through 12 games with 24 RBIs, and he has gone 3-of-5 in consecutive contests.

"It's fun to watch him play," Tennessee coach Tony Vitello said. "I think he's really found a way to play the game hard and be intense. He's really into it, and he has prepared as well as anybody, but when he gets out there, he's playing like Luc (Lipcius) used to.

"To see the results is fun."

Merritt and Kyle Booker also homered for the Vols, who won their 10th consecutive game to improve to 10-2. Chase Burns did not factor into the decision despite working into the sixth inning and tallying eight strikeouts.

Tennessee will go for the series sweep against Gonzaga (1-9) at 1 p.m. Sunday.
