University of Tennessee at Chattanooga standout Dorota Zalewska opened with a 4-over-par 76 in the NCAA national championship tournament Friday at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Zalewska, playing the final event of her Mocs career, is tied for 106th in a field of 156 golfers after a first round with a pair of birdies on the 14th and 18th holes but six bogeys. She was 2 over on the front nine but had three bogeys on her final six holes.

The Raleigh Regional champion will resume play at 11:22 a.m. Eastern on Saturday. The four-day, 72-hole tournament will have a 54-hole cut, with the top 15 teams advancing to the final round along with the top nine individuals not on those teams.

In a UTC release, Zalewska said "it's a hard course, and we have a few more days to go. I'm disappointed, but I know I have three more days to go as long as I keep everything tight and place it in the right spots."

Oklahoma State's Maddison Hinson-Tolchard opened with a 66 for a one-stroke lead over Wake Forest's Lauren Walsh, with four players tied for third at 68. Wake Forest was in first place on the team leaderboard at 9-under 279, one stroke ahead of Oklahoma State, with Georgia and South Carolina tied for third at 286.
