The Chattanooga Football Club shut out a league opponent for the fifth time through seven matches this season, beating Albion San Diego 2-0 on Wednesday night at Finley Stadium.
Alex McGrath played a part in both goals, assisting when Markus Naglestad found the net in the 34th minute and scoring his own in the 45th. Chattanooga FC keeper Jean Gamain Antoine sealed the shutout with a pair of saves in the final five minutes.
CFC (5-0-2), which has outscored opponents 13-1 this season, remains atop the National Independent Soccer Association standings with 17 points, six ahead of the Maryland Bobcats (3-1-0).
Albion San Diego (1-2-1) is eighth in the nine-team league.
Maryland visits CFC at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. It will be the second match of a doubleheader at Finley Stadium, with the CFC women hosting FC Birmingham at 4:30.
Tickets are good for both games, although no out passes will be issued, and fireworks are scheduled to follow the men’s match.
