Thankful for you

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

The older I get the more I realize time is our most valuable asset.

I feel the need now to cue Vin Scully introducing the final inning of Billy Chapel's perfect game (spoiler alert) in "For Love of the Game."

"And you know Steve, you get the feeling that Billy Chapel isn't pitching against left-handers, he isn't pitching against pinch hitters, he isn't pitching against the Yankees. He's pitching against time. He's pitching against the future, against age, and even when you think about his career, against ending."

Time is what we have. Now.

Time is what we will long for when our days are done.

Forget the money, the power and all the rest.

And you guys and gals give me that precious resource every morning. I can't be more thankful — on this day and every other day for the last 13-plus years — for you spending time here.

Fab 4 picks

Before we get to the picks, can we discuss the world's lowest over/under? The Nebraska-Iowa total right now is 26.5.

Yes, 26.5. Four TDs total clears that bar.

And if you are crazy enough to bet over on any Iowa game, well, good luck with that.

Let's make like Spalding and get to pickin' gang.

Memphis-Temple over 63.5. Research alert: Memphis has been an over machine because A) the Tigers can score in bunches, and B) they could not stop a nose bleed.

Ole Miss-Mississippi State under 54.5. This game will be a fight. This game has routinely gone under. This, as the Mandolrian would say, is the way.

Arkansas-Missouri over 54.5. There is big play potential on both sides, especially in KJ Jefferson's final home game and with the news that Sam Pittman will be back for Arkansas. The Hogs could start quickly. Won't matter. The Tigers are playing for a NY6 bowl, and Brady Cook and the Mizzou offense (which has 34 plays of 30 or more yards this year) will feast on a Hogs defense that is bottom third in most passing defense metrics.

Oklahoma minus-9 TCU. The chance at a 10-win season, and an outside chance with a win to get into the Big 12 title game, gives OU plenty to play for. The biggest mismatch here is an OU offense that has been explosive in Norman — averaging 43 points a game at home — against a TCU defense that has been bad all year.

Texas minus-12.5 over Texas Tech. A team needing style points in the worst way and looking to throw the double birds into the air on its way out of the Big 12. Yep, Texas is going to be them this weekend.

Last week: 2-3-1 against the spread (40%).

This season: 41-31-2 against the spread (56.9%)

Tennessee hoops

The Vols can play. They are deep and talented.

The Vols have a hard time making shots in moments that matter.

And that will be a problem from now until the end of the Vols' season.

Granted, playing Purdue and Kansas in back-to-back days — two teams that could very well be No. 1 seeds come March — is a great thing.

But when UT needs a bucket, who is the Vols' dude?

This and that

— Gregg Popovich is a clown. That is all. I have harsher language, but a head coach scolding the crowd — who pay the money to pay that gasbag's salary, especially in a small market — for booing an opponent is asinine.

— You know the rules. Here's Paschall's picks column on winners.

— Man, now Phil Mickelson is saying Jon Rahm joining the LIV is a done deal. Go figure.

Today's questions

It's an anything goes Thursday so fire away.

But on this day 30 years ago, "Doggystyle," Snoop's debut solo album was released.

We could ask for a Rushmore of people named 'dog,' but we will on this day ask you this simple question — and there are no wrong answers — but let's go here.

Rushmore of 'Thanks' and have a little fun.

Have a great day with friends and family friends.
