TRION, Ga. — There are numerous Class A football players around the country who can match Toby Maddux’s weekly participation numbers.
Few can come close to the Trion High School senior’s production.
Like several small-school prep stars, Maddux never comes off the field for the Bulldogs (7-0, 3-0 GHSA Region 7-A Division I) — and it’s been that way for nearly four years. The running back/defensive back, despite a bothersome ankle, is quietly having a player-of-the-year type season in Georgia.
After piling up 309 yards and five touchdowns on just 14 carries a week ago against Chattooga, Maddux has 1,111 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns to go with 90 receiving yards and a score and 30 tackles this season.
He’s averaging over 11 yards per carry and more than 140 snaps per week.
