Signal Mountain looks to build on program’s illustrious state tournament soccer success

Out of the 32 high school girls’ soccer teams competing this Tuesday through Saturday in Chattanooga for the TSSAA championships, Signal Mountain holds the highest winning percentage in the field.

Since the Lady Eagles’ first state tournament appearance in 2017, Richard Northcutt’s team has produced an exceptional 11-2 (.846) record and reeled off three consecutive Class A state title runs from 2018-20.

However, Signal Mountain (13-6-1) is still in search of its first state tournament victory in Class AA and will get the chance to accomplish that in the quarterfinals Wednesday at 1:30 against Hume-Fogg (15-2-2) at Baylor School.

“I am hoping we can make a good run at another state title this year,” said senior forward Ava Duffey. “We have played a very tough schedule and used that to only get better and be the best we can. We have adapted well.”
