Sheriff: Bicyclist found dead near Edwards Point

A bicyclist was found dead Monday afternoon after being reported missing on Signal Mountain, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff's Office identified the man Tuesday as Lawrence Jeffrey Lipcsey, 59.

Deputies responded to the area near Edwards Point after the missing bicyclist was reported around 4 p.m. Monday, according to a news release.

After Lipcsey was found dead, they began a recovery operation, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Officials from Waldens Ridge Emergency Services, Hamilton County's special tactics and rescue squad, and the Signal Mountain Fire Department also assisted in the recovery, the release said.

No further information was available as of Tuesday morning, Sheriff's Office spokesperson Matt Lea said in an email.
