An inmate at the Hamilton County Jail allegedly assaulted a corrections sergeant Wednesday evening, according to a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Sgt. Stephen Roberts was attempting to move Nicholas Pillows from his isolation unit when Pillows broke the glass screen of the video visitation kiosk in his unit and used a jagged piece of glass to attack Roberts, according to the release.

Roberts suffered two lacerations behind his left ear.

“The injuries Sgt. Roberts sustained in this altercation represent the ever-present challenges and serious dangers our corrections services personnel face on a daily basis while performing their duties,” Sheriff Austin Garrett said in the release. “Weapons can be made or forged from literally anything, including in this particular incident, a piece of broken computer screen from a video visitation unit.”

Pillows will be receiving additional charges in relation to the incident, according to the release.
