Central High School’s Ronye Watson was one of the Chattanooga area’s top all-around playmakers on the football field in 2023.

With his senior season still ahead, he could wrap up his prep career as one of the best of all time in that category, because it seems there are very few things he cannot do — and what he does, he does well.

He is the ultimate Swiss Army knife. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound star for the Purple Pounders can destroy defenses with his arm at quarterback, his breakaway speed at running back and his route-running as a receiver. He can also score at any moment as a ball-hawking defensive back and an electric kick returner.

Watson, who leads off this year’s Times Free Press Dynamite Dozen list of the area’s top 12 senior prospects for college football, stands 28 touchdowns away from 100 in his prep career. He certainly could reach that milestone, considering he scored 22 times over Central’s last six games in 2023, which included a seven-touchdown performance with 437 total yards in the finale.
