As backup plans go, business for Elliott Arnold’s Plan B is booming.

Literally.

When Arnold, who was born in San Francisco and later grew up in London, came to McCallie, his sports background was a crackerjack soccer player who had seen a little action in flag football. Arnold initially believed he was athletic enough to play receiver for the Blue Tornado, but he quickly realized an alternate plan would likely be needed.

“It took all of about two days to realize the type of talent we had playing receiver,” Arnold said with a laugh. “I knew pretty quickly that I needed to concentrate on trying to get on the field as a kicker.”

Arnold not only got on the field but has handled all of the Blue Tornado’s kicking duties since his sophomore year.
