I don’t know about you, but my caffeine intake seems to quadruple during the holidays.

Is it due to the fact that 6 p.m. feels as dark and cold as midnight? Or is it due to the exhaustion of cramming to meet deadlines for the end of the semester? Or too many late-night work projects before taking some much-needed time off? Maybe it’s the excessive amount of travel with children who manage to always get sick right before you leave town (Dear God, why?).

Whatever is contributing to your need for copious amounts of caffeine right now, Chattanooga really has an incredible number of options.

Growing up, whenever I’d visit Chattanooga, I loved sitting on the beautiful patio at Rembrandt’s and drinking some confectionary drink with a tiny bit of espresso hidden beneath layers of chocolate and caramel syrups. Once I moved here, I quickly latched onto Mean Mug (both locations) for its food and coffee options — Mean Mug offered hearty protein after kayaking in the river by Coolidge Park and freshly in-house roasted beans for the coffee.
