Over 60 Republican members of the Tennessee House of Representatives have signed a letter supporting Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s secretary of defense nominee.
“In Tennessee, we overwhelmingly reaffirmed our support for President Donald J. Trump and his agenda this election, and today, we stand firmly behind Pete Hegseth as his choice for secretary of defense,” the letter said. “The relentless attacks against this war hero and proud Tennessean — launched by both the far-left and the D.C. Republican establishment — are truly beyond belief.”
Trump’s nomination of Hegseth, a veteran and Fox News anchor who lives in the Nashville area, has drummed up controversy amid allegations of sexual assault and heavy drinking and his comments that women shouldn’t be able to participate in military combat, The Associated Press reported.

State Rep. Jeremy Faison, R-Crosby, said he drew up the letter after constituents asked what he was doing to help Hegseth. Faison was not concerned with the allegations against Hegseth.
