C’mon, Republicans, God is pro-choice

A local newspaper discussion focused on someone thinking it ironic abortion should be decided by those already living. Republicans/conservatives ignore the consequences of the living being unwanted. Why are Republicans against contraception?

States have custody of abused and neglected children that can’t adequately be cared for. The statistics about children after leaving foster care are dismal.

Joining the discussion was a successful person who had been in foster care. God bless them, but considering the thousands of the living who die each year in mass shootings alone, by shooters who should have never had a gun, it seems like a vastly uneven trade. Religion doesn’t seem to help dysfunctional families. A woman in Iowa said, “As a Christian, I can overlook Trump’s sins.” Not repentance and forgiveness but ignoring biblical teaching.

Mass murder is abortion, just later.

Nobody is advocating abortion, but since the Bible doesn’t forbid abortion, then God has granted us the choice. If you’ve never adopted a child not genetically your own, then you can’t honestly say you’re against abortion.

Is this the best of conservative media?

Looking for something to listen to on my car radio this afternoon, I came across a talk show, “The Mike Gallagher Show,” sponsored by the My Pillow guy. The show was discussing “mainstream media reports” about the effect Donald Trump’s death would have on the 2024 election and the country in general. (Note: I listen to “mainstream media” and have never heard such a report.)

I didn’t listen long enough to get to the effects Trump’s death could have, just a couple of ways it could occur: A) Gallagher reminded his listeners that President Biden controls the FBI and CIA, implying, I suppose, the Biden administration could do Trump in; B) Just as a lone gunman shot Steve Scalise and Republican congressmen practicing softball, some crazed “Never-Trump” person could assassinate him, just like Oswald shot Kennedy; C) In whatever way Trump would be eliminated, it would be covered up; D) In the little bit I listened to, there was no mention of Trump dying of natural causes.

My gosh! This seems to be the sort of reporting “conservative” media throws up these days. I would hope the MAGA-ites would use the brains God gave them to think and see beyond such nonsense.

Don’t punish Ukraine over our problems

The GOP is holding Ukraine hostage for our support so they can get a deal for the border.

A recent Associated Press article written by Stephen Groves and Lisa Mascaro reports Ukraine aide is unlikely. Sen. James Lankford is leading this crusade to force the White House to bend over backward before they will turn money over to Ukraine.

The U.S. must always help a country fight for freedom.

Sen. Lankford is thinking about nothing but the cost. What is the cost of freedom? What if France had the same thoughts during our Revolution? What if we thought the same during World War II to stop Hitler? Look at the dollars then, and convert to purchasing power today. The sums would be staggering. Fighting evil should never have a bottom line.

When it comes to fighting for freedom, the USA should be leading the way for all countries to see our values and join the fight.

Yes, we need to fix our border. Ukraine is not a bargaining chip to use for our problem. Work together, Republicans and Democrats, to resolve our problem here in our country. Don’t punish Ukraine.
